***Neuromuscular Massage Therapy (Back to Top)

Neuromuscular Massage Therapy is a modality of concentrated massage in specific areas of the body. These specific areas are often called "trigger points" because they are focused points on a muscle or muscle group that are referring pain to other parts of the body. Therefore, NMT uses sustained, static pressure and slow, long strokes to increase blood flow and oxygen to the hypertonic muscle. It is a highly effective method for releasing chronic pain due to misalignment, repetitive motion, and past lingering injuries. Due to the nature of the neuromuscular work, open communication during the session is key to making sure the pressure and intensity is just right for your body. Keep in mind that soreness is pretty common after the treatment, and that plenty of water should be ingested to aid with the flushing and removal of toxins that will have been released from the tissue during the session.

Sports Massage Therapy (Back to Top)

Sports Massage Therapy is a type of massage designed for highly active people who engage in athletics. Engaging in sports is harsh on the body and can often lead to injuries in both the short and long term. Sports massage enhances performance and prolongs one's sports career by helping to prevent injury, reduce pain and swelling in the body, relax the mind, increase flexibility, and dramatically improve recovery rates. This modality combines Swedish and Neuromuscular therapies, while also utilizing passive and active stretching techniques. Sports Massage is highly effective in aiding the rapid recovery of an athlete from an injury by encouraging greater kinesthetic awareness and in turn promoting the body’s natural immune function. This is a great option for the athlete preparing for or just finishing a specific event.

Firm Swedish Massage Therapy (Back to Top)

Swedish Massage Therapy is a very relaxing and therapeutic style of bodywork. Swedish massage includes an array of strokes such as gliding, rolling, kneading, and percussion to help your body improve its circulation and to allow tension to melt away. The benefits of this type of bodywork are wide-ranging and include relief from aches and pains, decreased stress levels in the body, enhanced mental clarity, improved appearance, and greater flexibility. The length and intensity of the strokes will vary, of course, due to your personal preference. Although the pressure may be firm, it will always be gentle enough for you to relax.

Hot Stone Therapy (Back to Top)

Hot Stone Therapy is a type of bodywork that uses deep, penetrating heat from specialized stones. It delivers a profound expansion inside your circulatory system, improving the function of your lymphatic and immune systems and enhancing your body’s self-healing mechanisms. This style of bodywork takes you into deep states of relaxation, releasing stress and anxiety, detoxifying the body, and balancing your nervous system. Hot Stone therapy is a wonderful choice of massage modalities during the cooler months of the year to warm the entire body. Also, the heat from the stones is the perfect add-on treatment to any regular massage session for those hard-to-relax-spots such as neck and shoulders, lower back, or calves and feet. Please note: Hot Stone therapy may not be advised for clients who have certain medical conditions. We will always discuss your concerns before any massage treatment.

Pregnancy is a time in which a woman’s body endures tremendous stress due to dramatic physical, mental, and emotional changes. Using various techniques specifically for the new mother, Prenatal massage helps alleviate discomfort experienced throughout the pregnancy. The benefits are profound, including emotional support, the reduction of joint pain due to extra weight and postural imbalance, improved breathing and relaxation, and relief from uncomfortable digestive issues. Extra time is always allowed to ensure the most comfortable table positions for the mother-to-be.
